Update on Our “Big Money” Project
Did you hear the good news? John and I met with Chairman Leo Berman of the House Elections Committee last week, and, against all predictions, he agreed to schedule a hearing for the three campaign limits bills we’ve been advocating for (HB 110, HB 111, and HB 1085). He set the hearing for THIS WEDNESDAY (April 18), so we’re pulling out all the stops.
We’re teaming up with our partner organizations in Texans Against Big Money to get the word out to the press in several ways, including a press conference on the day of the hearing. Please join us in calling for reasonable limits on campaign contributions for both events this Wednesday:
- Press conference at 1:30 p.m. on the south steps of the Capitol
- Committee hearing at 2:00 p.m. or upon adjournment of the House, Capitol Extension Room E2.028
And if you haven’t signed our petition yet, sign it now and ask the members of the committee to vote to pass all three bills and send them to the Floor for full consideration by the House. We’ve now reached over 500 signatures! But the bigger the stack, the bigger the impression on our lawmakers.
